בלבו של האתר הארכיאולוגי עין יעל, שוכנים שרידיה של וילה רומית מסוף המאה השנייה לספירה. במרכזה פסיפס מפואר, עשיר בפרטים. "אימפריה שקועה אור חדש" הוא מיצב קבע, תלוי מקום, שנוצר במיוחד לאתר ההיסטורי

תוך הפניית מבט אל רצפת הפסיפס ואל המבנה המודרניסטי הפשוט המגונן עליה, נשטף המרחב באלומות אור משתנות המתייחסות למתח בין מופע לפרטיות. בשעה שהקהל מוזמן להיטמע בתוך מצבים שונים של חושך, מאירה העבודה את הפער בין היחס האינטימי של בעלי הוילה הלא-ידועים עם רצפת ביתם - ובין אלפי המבקרים שמביטים בה כשריד אפי, מונומנטלי של העבר

קּלוֹק קּלוֹק הוא מופע מכונות מתוזמר בבריכת מעיין "עץ הברוש" - הבריכה הגדולה בלב האתר הארכיאולוגי. במקום בו מתמזגים זמן היסטורי בזמן עכשווי מתפקדת הבריכה השופעת במרכז, כמקום התכנסות טבעי ועל זמני - ככיכר העיר - המקום דרכו חולפים מאורעות הזמן, הבמה למופע של העכשיו

קּלוֹק קּלוֹק הוא מיצב קבע, תלוי מקום, שנוצר במיוחד לאתר ההיסטורי. ברוש, חכה, סכר, מגדלור - הן ארבע מכונות מורכבות, הבנויות בעקרונות מכניים פשוטים ומתוזמרות יחד למופע מתמשך בזמן. בחשיכה שמסביב נמתחים פני המים כמו מסך שחור ובעוד עין הצופה נמשכת להתבונן בהם ארוכות כבמשטח חד מימדי, מתגלה בפניו גיאולוגיה משונה של מרחב המונח זה על זה כשכבות - מעל המים, פני המים ועומקם

אל משטח פני המים צפים ועולים מיתוסים מקומיים, מצולות מדומות, קסמים - שכבות של מסע בזמן ארכיאולוגי ורגעים מהעכשווי

האתר הארכיאולוגי עין יעל יושב למרגלות מצוק ובליבו מעיין נובע כל השנה. מי המעיין זורמים לאורך 30 מטר בניקבה מתקופת בית ראשון, עוברים דרך שני בתי מרחץ מהתקופה הרומית ונאגרים בבריכה גדולה מהתקופה הערבית. משם ממשיכים המים לזרום בתעלות חדשות בנות 25 שנה, החוצות דרך הטרסות את צלע ההר ומתנקזות לשתי בריכות קטנות בתחתיתו

קרוב למקור הנביעה נמצאו שרידיה של וילה רומית כפרית מפוארת, מעוטרת ברצפות פסיפס ובציורי קיר. בחלק אחד בפסיפס מתוארות ארבע דמויות גבריות המייצגות את עונות השנה - חורף, קיץ, סתיו, אביב. בפסיפס המרכזי אלת הים טתיס, ראשי מדוזה, דגים, ברווזים וקופידונים רכובים על דולפינים - מגוון יצורי ים מיתולוגיים

Ein Yael is a unique natural gem in Jerusalem's landscape: an archaeological site with Roman ruins stretching over 60 acres of ancient agriculture with terraces, fruit gardens, a pulsating spring, and more. The remains of a large Roman villa with a glorious and detailed mosaic floor lie in the heart of the village.

Old Empire New Light is a new light installation created especially for the site. Looking at the original floor and the much simpler modern structure protecting it, the work is a looping light sequence addressing subjects of performativity and privacy. The work attempts to expose the gap between the intimate relationship the unnamed owners of this Villa had with their floor mosaic and the thousands of people observing it every year from above today.

Old Empire New Light is activated only at night, relying on the darkness surrounding it. The audience is invited to observe and assimilate into various states of darkness.

Clock, Clock is a synchronized performance by machines at the pool of the Cedar Tree Spring - the large pool at the heart of the Archaeological Site at Ein Yael. At the location in which historical time merges with contemporary time, the pool, gushing with water, is the focal point, as the natural and a-temporal gathering place, like the agora or the city center, the place through which events in time pass, the stage for the performance of the now.

Clock, Clock is a permanent site-specific installation made especially for the historical site. A cedar tree, fishing rod, dam, and lighthouse are four complex machines built on simple mechanical principles, synchronized to create a continuous performance. In the surrounding darkness, the surface of the water is tensed like a black curtain. While the viewer’s gaze is drawn to the water to stare for a long time at something that looks like a one-dimensional plane, a strange geology gradually reveals itself, showing itself to be a space placed one on top of another in layers - above the water, the surface of the water, and its depths.

RIsing to the surface are floating local myths, virtual depths, and magic spells - layers of contemporary archaeology.

The Ein Yael Archaeological Site is located at the foot of a cliff; at its core is a spring which flows the entire year long, its waters traveling along a 30m shaft from the First Temple era. The water passes through two Roman bathhouses to collect in a large pool dating to the Muslim era. From there, the water flows in new channels that are 25 years old, crossing the mountainside through terraces to drain into two small pools at the foot of the mountain.

Remains of a luxurious Roman country villa were discovered near the source, decorated with mosaic floors and frescoed walls. In another section of the mosaic, four male figures are depicted, representing the Four Seasons – Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. The central mosaic features Thetis, Goddess of the Sea, with Medusa heads; fish, ducks, and cupids riding dolphins, accompanied by a variety of mythological sea creatures.
